Senior government sources have suggested that Toronto will not enter Stage 3 of Ontario’s coronavirus reopening plan this week, reports City News.
In Stage 3, indoor service can resume in restaurants and other businesses such as gyms, bars and theatres.
Indoor gathering limits will also be increased to up to 50 people, while outdoor gatherings can see a maximum of 100 people.
Premier Doug Ford announced last week that most of Ontario on Friday will move into the next stage of reopening, though the GTHA, Windsor-Essex and Niagara region will remain in Stage 2.
Mayor John Tory is looking to implement separate measures for indoor dining and bars before Toronto moves into Stage 3.
Over the weekend there were over 160 new cases of coronavirus reported on both days in Ontario. In the eight days before, the amount of new cases did not reach over 130.
