A trans-identified male who was formerly the Vice Chair for the Arizona Democratic Party has been arrested after the suspect allegedly broke into a home with a knife to attack a resident in Phoenix, Arizona. That was the home of his former partner.

Brianna Westbrook, 41, was arrested on July 10 after his former partner contacted police about an incident at a Phoenix residence, according to 12 News. Westbrook allegedly "pushed her way" into the home and had a knife as well as duct tape. He then "wrestled" his ex-partner to the couch. The victim then screamed, and then Westbrook "took off running," according to police records. Police records refer to the man as a woman.

Westbrook was then detained by police and claimed that the incident was a "big misunderstanding." Westbrook claimed that the incident at the ex-partner's house was just part of a "scene" they were playing out. The victim, however, said that they did not agree to act out the "scene," police records show.

After obtaining a warrant, police found "a knife, tape and gloves" and then Westbrook was booked into the county jail and issued a $15,000 bond.

Westbrook is the former vice chair of the Arizona Democratic Party and has attempted to run for office multiple times. In 2018, he was defeated by Republican Debbie Lesko. In 2022, Westbrook lost in a Democrat primary while running for Arizona's 5th District.

Westbrook was previously arrested before trespassing at GOP Senator Jeff Flake’s office in Phoenix. The charges against him were later dropped, but Westbrook claimed that he was mistreated while in police custody.
