Trans-identified male likens Texas lawmakers to Nazis over banning drag for kids

Loren Perkins was testifying in support of drag shows for children and had spent a significant amount of the allotted two minutes comparing Texas lawmakers to Nazis when the buzzer sounded and time was up.

There were astonishing scenes at the Texas state capital Thursday when a trans activist physically blocked the senate’s sergeant from taking the microphone from a trans-identified male who had run out of time while testifying against a ban on drag shows for children.

Loren Perkins was testifying in support of drag shows for children and had spent a significant amount of the allotted two minutes comparing Texas lawmakers to Nazis when the buzzer sounded and time was up.

However, rather than ending the impassioned speech, Perkins continued with the help of a trans activist who stood up and physically blocked Austin Osborn, a senate security guard, from turning off the mic, allowing Perkins to deliver the remainder of the speech.

In a video that went viral on TikTok, Osborn can be seen grappling with the trans activists, making vain attempts to reach the microphone. Meanwhile, Perkins remained in full flow.

“Hiding your bigotry behind children like cowards, you will find yourself on the wrong side of history. By manipulating the words of an ancient text and shoehorning it into legislation aimed at an at risk minority population, you liken yourself to another group that gained popularity in Germany in the 1930s,” said Perkins

“When a small man with a smaller moustache stood before crowds and proclaimed himself superior to others—I see you here doing the same.”

Making accusations of homophobia, Perkins went on to suggest that the real intention behind a ban on drag shows for children is “the continued marginalisation and othering of the LGBTQIA+ community.”

Then the buzzer went off, and Perkins began to speak louder and faster as chaotic scenes unfolded in the background. As Osborn was thanked repeatedly for testifying, the trans-identified male continued to speak.

“I will not sit here and debate your fascist ideology as peddlers of intolerance deserve no such stage on a public forum,” said Perkins, as a woman in a pink shirt wrestles with security.

“The bill is two seconds away from the outdated discriminatory three articles of laws of the 20th century and I will not stand for it. We will not stand for it,” said Perkins.

“We may not win today and we may not win tomorrow, but we will persist as we always have the fight of your oppression.”

At this point, officials muted Perkins’ microphone, meaning the trans-identified male had to shout for the dramatic finale to be heard around the chamber.

“If you wish to eradicate transgenderism from the public light as members of your party have said... you can pry that from my cold dead hands.”

The bills to which Perkins was referring are SB 12, that would classify drag shows as sexually oriented performances, and SB 1601, that would prohibit libraries from holding drag queen story times.
