"Enough already with these guys," one officer said. "[TDA’s] time is up."
Two gang members tied to the apartment takeover, Denyeer Aramillo Meneses, 23, and Edison Pena Angulo, 25, were taken into custody during an early morning raid in the Bronx. NYPD as well as US Department of Homeland Security agents nabbed the two as well as 13 other suspected gang members, per the New York Post.
15 total were arrested as part of an over a year-long investigation into gang violence as well as drug trafficking. “Enough already with these guys,” one officer told the outlet. "[TDA’s] time is up."
Meneses as well as Angulo allegedly belonged to the group of gang members who were caught on video that went viral storming an apartment building in Aurora, Colorado. The suspected gang members in the video sparked a media firestorm around Tren de Aragua in August. The gang now has a foothold in at least 17 states, per a DHS memo as well as reporting from The Post Millennial. After that incident, they somehow made it over to the Big Apple.
The gang members at the Bronx location were selling a number of different illicit substances such as heroin, the synthetic drug Tussi, as well as fake weed. Law enforcement also busted the gang members for a trove of firearms that they were keeping in the Bronx. Since the federal indictments against the gang members remain sealed, what charges Meneses and Angulo face have yet to be revealed.
Meneses as well as Angulo were charged with burglary as well as menacing with a firearm in the Aurora case when they and the four other men were recorded going through units of the Edge at Lowry Complex on August 18.
