In some optimistic news, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that he is working with the provinces to safely lift economic restrictions and open up Canada.

Trudeau did say, however, that the country is not yet ready to come out of the lockdown. It is not clear how much longer Canada's economy can survive these restrictions with a report today saying Canada could enter a recession next week.

This incoming recession was delayed through Trudeau's rent program. This policy is clearly unsustainable for the long-term economic health of the country.

Alluding to the fact that some provinces have suffered more than others, Trudeau said that it would not be like "flipping a switch." As a result of this, we can expect some provinces to come out of lockdown earlier than others.

Speaking to reporters, Trudeau said We are a federation and we have to adapt our response to the realities and challenges of each province and territory."

"It will require a lot of co-ordination at the national level and our government will be there to do that work," he added.

Trudeau has not yet given a time frame as to when the country can reopen and the lockdown will continue for the foreseeable future.

“It is absolutely critical that everyone continues to follow local public health instructions as we move forward.”
