Trump is expected to meet with top aides on Monday to discuss possibly canceling or suspending US military aid to the Eastern European country.
An administration official told the New York Times that Trump is expected to meet with top aides on Monday to discuss possibly canceling or suspending US military aid to the Eastern European country.
A Friday report from the outlet stated that the day the meeting between the leaders took place in the White House marked 50 days since the Pentagon last announced a new package of weapons for Ukraine. Under the Biden administration, new shipments of weapons and other military equipment had been announced roughly every two weeks. The final shipments of ammunition and equipment authorized under the Biden administration could also be canceled.
A Trump administration official said that Trump may decide to also end indirect support for Ukraine, including intelligence sharing, training for Ukraine troops, other types of military financing, and hosting a call center that manages international aid at the US’s German military base.
After the Friday White House meeting, Trump wrote, "We had a very meaningful meeting in the White House today. Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure. It’s amazing what comes out through emotion, and I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for Peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations. I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace."
