"A program of soft global governance that is inconsistent with US sovereignty and adverse to the rights and interests of Americans."
Minister-counselor Edward Heartney, of the US mission to the United Nations, said the 2030 Agenda was “a program of soft global governance that is inconsistent with US sovereignty and adverse to the rights and interests of Americans," per Newsmax.
There are 17 “sustainable development goals,” which include ending poverty around the world as well as achieving gender equality. But the UN states that all of that should be done at the same time as advancing green energy agenda items.
The 2030 Agenda goals page for the UN says that 17 goals they are “an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership.” And that the goals of eliminating poverty and getting healthcare and education to all have to be done while “tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.”
UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said that the members of the UN are working to “to advance a world of peace, prosperity and dignity for all” and that all 193 nations voted to deliver the goals. Members of the Trump administration have said that the organization should focus on its “founding purpose,” with providing international security as well as peace, according to Foreign Policy Magazine.
The AP reported that the Trump administration has also cut off funding to foreign aid, which has led to UN staffing and budget cuts. Former House GOP Chairwoman Elise Stefanik has been appointed as US ambassador to the UN by the president.
