The Trump administration's Department of Agriculture has canceled a grant of $600,000 that was going to study the menstruation cycles of trans-identified females.

The grant was slated to go to the Southern University of Agricultural and Mechanical College in Louisiana to study the menstruation patterns, however, after it was reported on earlier this year, the grant has been stopped by the Trump administration.

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins wrote in a post on X, citing a report on the cancellation of the grant from the College Fix, "CANCELLED: $600,000 grant to study 'menstrual cycles in transgender men'."

The grant description read, "The first occurrence of menstruation occurs at approximately 12 years of age and ends with menopause at roughly 51 years of age. A woman will have a monthly menstrual cycle for about 40 years of her life, averaging to about 450 periods over the course of her lifetime."

"It is also important to recognize that transgender men and people with masculine gender identities, intersex and non-binary persons may also menstruate," the grant summary added. "At any given moment about 26% of the world’s population is menstruating."

The study was started to "address growing concerns" with menstruation and is set to progress through April 2027. The study was first discovered by the American Principles Project, a conservative nonprofit that singled out over 340 grants that the Biden administration approved for various institutions around the United States such as hospitals and universities.

The grants amounted to over $128 million in taxpayer dollars being spent by the federal government.
