In a hypothetical race to replace retiring GOP Rep Mike Gallagher in Wisconsin’s eighth district, Trump ally Alex Bruesewitz, who has not formally announced a run, has emerged as a strong frontrunner, polling more than 20 points ahead of the next highest candidate.

The Cygnal poll, obtained by Breitbart News, found that Bruesewitz is in the lead with 36 percent, while State Senator Andrew Jacque received 15 percent, and Roger Roth, Gallagher’s "handpicked replacement," received just 12 percent.

The poll also found that 64 percent of voters said they wanted a political outsider instead of a career politician, which would benefit Bruesewitz who has not held office.

"It’s evident that the people of Wisconsin are sick of career politicians like Mike Gallagher, that’s why his hand picked replacement Roger Roth is getting absolutely crushed. The great patriots of WI-8 will send a strong, pro-Trump conservative to Washington as their next Representative," Bruesewitz told The Post Millennial.

Gallagher’s approval rating in the district was found to be 17 points less than former President Donald Trump’s.

Gallagher announced in February that he would not seek reelection in Congress. This came after Gallagher was one of three Republicans to vote against impeaching Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

In March, Gallagher announced that he would be resigning from his post on April 19. His resignation date means the seat will be left empty until November, with the Republicans in the House losing a much-needed seat to maintain a majority.

Shortly after Gallagher announced that he would not seek reelection, Bruesewitz said he was strongly considering a run for the seat.

He wrote that "for the reporters, members of Congress, and grassroots patriots across Wisconsin, who are reaching out to me asking if I will run… let’s just say I am now taking a VERY STRONG LOOK."

"I look forward to my upcoming meetings with the County GOP Chairs in WI 8th Congressional District and we might just have to throw a MAGA rally later this month in the Fox Valley."
