President Trump announced on Tuesday the settlement he came to with CBS' parent company Paramount over the editing of an interview they held on 60 Minutes with then-Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. Trump sued over a claim of election interference.

"BREAKING NEWS!" Trump posted on Truth Social. "We have just achieved a BIG AND IMPORTANT WIN in our Historic Lawsuit against 60 Minutes, CBS, and Paramount. Just like ABC and George Slopadopoulos, CBS and its Corporate Owners knew that they defrauded the American People, and were desperate to settle. Paramount/CBS/60 Minutes have today paid $16 Million Dollars in settlement, and we also anticipate receiving $20 Million Dollars more from the new Owners, in Advertising, PSAs, or similar Programming, for a total of over $36 Million Dollars. This is another in a long line of VICTORIES over the Fake News Media, who we are holding to account for their widespread fraud and deceit. The Wall Street Journal, The Failing New York Times, The Washington Post, MSDNC, CNN, and all other Mainstream Media Liars, are ON NOTICE that the days of them being allowed to deceive the American People are OVER. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

At issue was their edit of the 60 Minutes interview with Harris in which it was alleged that the news magazine selectively edited her answer on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Middle East to make her look better.

The interview was aired ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Leading up to the interview air time on the 60 Minutes news magazine, Face the Nation, also on CBS, played a promo clip in which Harris was answering a question about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Her answer, as shown in the promo, was starkly different than the one featured in the interview that night.

In the first iteration of the clip, which aired that morning, host Bill Whitaker asked Harris about her stance on the conflict. "Well, Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by or a result of many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region," Harris said.

When the full interview was aired, Harris' response was "We are not gonna stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end."

CNS later provided the full transcript of the interview after a complaint was lodged against them with the Federal Communications Commission. Trump brought his own lawsuit against Paramount prior to retaking the White House.
