"Joe Biden just commuted the Death Sentence on 37 of the worst killers in our Country."
Trump posted on Truth Social, "Joe Biden just commuted the Death Sentence on 37 of the worst killers in our Country. When you hear the acts of each, you won’t believe that he did this. Makes no sense. Relatives and friends are further devastated. They can’t believe this is happening!"
In a follow up post, Trump added, "As soon as I am inaugurated, I will direct the Justice Department to vigorously pursue the death penalty to protect American families and children from violent rapists, murderers, and monsters. We will be a Nation of Law and Order again!"
His incoming press secretary Karoline Leavitt had said, "Imagine if President Trump did this? The media would go ballistic. Yet they are silent as they continue to cover for Biden on his way out the door."
She added in another post on Tuesday, “Joe Biden commuted the sentence of this cold-blooded killer, who murdered these two innocent mothers, days before Christmas.”

Others have slammed Biden for the decision to commute the death sentences. He did so for 37 out of the 40 criminals on death row. All have been convicted of at least murder.

On Monday, the Biden White House announced, "I am commuting the sentences of 37 of the 40 individuals on federal death row to life sentences without the possibility of parole."
Two of those on the list of 37 includes Ricardo Sanchez Jr. and Daniel Troya. The two convicts were sentenced to death after killing a family, including two children. Additionally, Jorge Avila-Torrez had his sentenced commuted to life in prison after he was convicted of sexually assaulting and then stabbing to death two girls, aged 8 and 9, when they were riding their bikes to school in Chicago in 2005.
Avila-Torrez would later strangle naval officer Amanda Snell in Arlington, Virginia. Snell was in her barracks at the time of the attack.
Biden said that his choice to commute the sentences was "guided by [his] conscience and [his] experience as a public defender.” He then called for the United States to “stop the use of the death penalty at the federal level."
The three Biden did not commute the death sentences of were Boston Marathon Bomber, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev; Robert Bowers, who killed 11 people at the Tree of Life synagogue shooting in 2018; and Dylann Roof, who murdered nine black people in 2015 at a church in Charleston, South Carolina.
