While discussing the "big, beautiful bill" in the Oval Office on Thursday, President Donald Trump said that Democrats were fighting it because they have "Trump derangement syndrome."

Trump said that House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune "have done an incredible job" and "we have a lot of support," however, Democrats "are fighting it only because they want to fight. They have Trump derangement syndrome."

"You know if it was somebody else they wouldn’t fight. If you had a normal person, you had some stiff sitting behind you they’d be fine but they have Trump derangement syndrome."

Trump continued, "you know, Senator [Chuck] Schumer’s become a Palestinian. I don’t know when they’re gonna give him the ceremony, whatever the ceremony may be. It’s terrible what’s happened to the Democrats.

On Wednesday night, Trump said that "great progress" was being made on the bill. "We are making great progress on 'The One, Big, Beautiful Bill.' Our Economy is doing well, but it’s going to BOOM in a way never seen before. We are going to do NO TAX ON TIPS, NO TAX ON SENIORS’ SOCIAL SECURITY, NO TAX ON OVERTIME, and much more. It will be the biggest Tax Cut for Middle and Working Class Americans by far, and it is time for Main Street to WIN. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

This comes as negotiations among House Republicans are continuing for the reconciliation package. Per The Hill, the GOP House members said they would pass the package by Memorial Day recess.
