Trump calls for arrest of Jack Smith after special counsel admitted to evidence tampering in seized Mar-a-Lago docs case

President Donald Trump has called for the arrest of Special Counsel Jack Smith after it was revealed that his legal team admitted evidence that was tampered with in the classified documents case brought against Trump. 

In a post from Trump on Truth Social upon the release of court documents from Smith, the former president posted, "ARREST DERANGED JACK SMITH. HE IS A CRIMINAL!" 

With his post, Trump shared a report from Just the News that revealed Smith's prosecution office admitting that documents in boxes found at Mar-a-Lago in the FBI raid were found with documents out of order, indicating that the evidence was handled improperly.  

“There are some boxes where the order of items within that box is not the same as in the associated scans,” prosecutors wrote in the court documents. “The Government acknowledges that this is inconsistent with what Government counsel previously understood and represented to the Court.” 

This was contrary to testimony previously given to US District Judge Aileen Cannon, where they stated that the boxes were "in their original, intact form as seized." 

Smith's team downplayed the significance of the materials being found out of order in the boxes and the previous false testimony.  

Addressing the revelations of the case, Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz weighed in and said, “Prosecutors and investigators should never tamper with or alter evidence in their possession, including the order of documents in a box because one never knows what may become relevant or crucial to a court or jury later in a case." 

The court documents were filed last Friday in which the admission was revealed.
