President Donald Trump condemned the vicious and fatal stabbing of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte, slamming Democrats on Monday over the crime in North Carolina. The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Decarlos Brown, who was seen on surveillance video stabbing the 23-year-old Ukrainian woman to death.

Trump said of the murder on Truth Social, "I have seen the horrific video of a beautiful, young Ukrainian refugee, who came to America to escape the vicious War in Ukraine, and was innocently riding the Metro in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she was brutally ambushed by a mentally deranged lunatic. The perpetrator was a well-known career criminal, who had been previously arrested and released on CASHLESS BAIL in January, a total of 14 TIMES."

“What the hell was he doing riding the train, and walking the streets? Criminals like this need to be LOCKED UP. The blood of this innocent woman can literally be seen dripping from the killer’s knife, and now her blood is on the hands of the Democrats who refuse to put bad people in jail, including Former Disgraced Governor and 'Wannabe Senator' Roy Cooper. North Carolina, and every State, needs LAW AND ORDER, and only Republicans will deliver it! Additionally, where is the outrage from the Mainstream Media on this horrible tragedy? VOTE FOR MICHAEL WHATLEY FOR UNITED STATES SENATE, HE WON’T LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN!" Trump added in his comments.

Earlier that day, Trump had also mentioned the stabbing while speaking at the Bible Museum. The stabbing occurred in late August, but the video was released over the weekend by a local news outlet. "We're all people of religion, but there are evil people," Trump said. "And we have to confront that. I just give my love and hope to the family of the young woman who was stabbed ... in Charlotte by a madman."

"A lunatic just got up and started," Trump added. "It's right on tape. Not really watchable because it's so horrible, but just viciously stabbed. She's just sitting there."

The footage, which has gone viral online, shows Zarutska boarding the light rail in Charlotte, wearing a pizzeria uniform as she scrolled on her phone. Meanwhile, a man appearing to be agitated in a red hoodie was sitting behind her. The video shows the man unfold a pocketknife and then viciously stab her in the neck multiple times. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The footage also showed the man, dripping with blood from his hand, walking away from the stabbing, as other passengers avoided him. He was later taken into custody. The comments from Trump about the killing follow a push from the administration to crack down on crime as well as put a stop to cashless bail. Brown had been arrested 14 separate times and had a long rap sheet, including violent crimes.
