In an interview Thursday, former President Donald Trump revealed that he is "100 percent" considering a 2024 presidential campaign, adding that he would "certainly" consider Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as a potential running mate for his campaign.

The Mornings with Maria interview on Fox News comes the morning after President Biden's address to a joint session of Congress Wednesday night.

"Well he's a friend of mine. I endorsed Ron and after I endorsed him he took off like a rocket ship," said Trump when asked whether he would consider Gov. DeSantis as a running mate in 2024. "He’s done a great job as governor... A lot of people love that ticket.

"Certainly Ron would be considered, he's a great guy," Trump added.

Trump discussed his potential 2024 campaign platform, stating that protecting the Second Amendment, looking into the tax increases implemented by the Biden Administration, rebuilding border security, and the energy industry would all be at the forefront.

Trump blasted Biden's proposed tax hikes that come from the $2.25 trillion American Jobs Plan, as well as the newly proposed $1.8 trillion American Families Plan, both of which would increase taxes on businesses and wealthy people.

Under the American Jobs Plan, which looks to rebuild and revitalize crumbling infrastructure across the United States, corporate taxes would be increased from 21 to 28 percent, and the highest bracket of taxes on individuals and households would go up to 39.6 percent.

"...The biggest tax increases. You’re going from the biggest decrease to the biggest increase in history," said Trump. "It’s going to be a shock to all people, not rich people, all people."

Trump slammed Biden for the crisis at the southern border, urging that the Biden Administration needs to "finish the wall."

"The border needs to be brought back to where I had it," Trump stated, adding that They have to finish the wall, I would have had it finished two years ago except that I got sued all the time, every time that we made a move we got sued. It took two and a half years to win all the lawsuits.

Trump also stressed the importance of getting back to being energy independent, stressing that "we're not going to be energy independent in a couple of months."

"Your gasoline prices, look what’s happening to them. They’re going up, through the roof in a short period of time," said Trump. "I had them down below $2 and we still had a strong energy industry. Now they’re laying everybody off."
