Former President Donald Trump launched his first TikTok account while attending UFC 302 on Saturday night. His debut video, a 13-second clip featuring highlights of his walk into the New Jersey event, quickly went viral and the GOP frontrunner wracked up followers.

UFC President Dana White introduced Trump in the montage saying, “The president is now on TikTok."

“It’s my honor," Trump responds. Trump was greeted with overwhelming support at the fight.

“That was a good walk-on, right?” Trump says as the video comes to a close.

The video quickly garnered 1.7 million likes by Sunday morning, with his account already reaching 1.6 million followers. In contrast, President Joe Biden's TikTok account, @bidenhq, has around 335,000 followers despite being active for some time. The Biden account has also received mixed reviews in its comment section by TikTok users, as many have pointed out that the Biden campaign is using the app after he endorsed a ban on TikTok.

A New York Times report from last month indicated that TikTok has seen nearly twice as many pro-Trump posts compared to pro-Biden posts since November. This comes after Biden signed a bill in April mandating ByteDance to sell TikTok within nine months or face a US ban.

Trump’s move to join the platform likely comes as a way to reach out to young voters, especially the ones disgruntled by Biden’s efforts to ban the popular app.

Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt emphasized this strategy, stating, “We refuse to cede any ground to Biden and the Democrats. We will get President Trump’s winning message to every voter possible. He has already gained significant ground with young voters and this is another way to reach them.”

Sean Strickland won the fight and offered his support for Trump, saying the conviction against Trump on Thursday was a "travesty" and vowing to make a donation to the campaign.
