Donald Trump said that the voting system is under siege by Democrats after they opposed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. The bill would require those who register to vote in elections to have proof of US citizenship.

The White Houes and Democrats scrambled to oppose the bill this week. In response, Trump posted to Truth Social: "Republicans must pass the Save Act, or go home and cry yourself to sleep. Non citizen Illegal Migrants are getting the right to vote, being pushed by crooked Democrat Politicians who are not being stopped by an equally dishonest Justice Department."

"Our whole voting system is under siege. Harmeet and David, go to court and get this stopped, NOW," he said, addressing two attorneys with whom he works closely by name. "The Dems can't win on their policies, the only way they can win is to CHEAT. They do it at every level of government, and they do it well. That's how they get an incapacitated moron like Joe Biden elected. Get tough RNC (Michael W!), Speaker Johnson, and all State and Local Republican politicians," Trump added.

"The Justice Department is CORRUPT and won't do a thing to help. They have no shame! All I can say is that if I'm elected President, we will pursue Election Fraudsters at levels never seen before, and they will be sent to prison for long periods of time. We already know who you are. DONT DO IT! ZUCKERBUCKS, be careful!" He concluded.

The Biden White House released a statement opposing the SAVE Act on Monday, saying that the administration "strongly opposed" the measure. "It is already illegal for noncitizens to vote in Federal elections–it is a Federal crime punishable by prison and fines. The alleged justification for this bill is based on easily disproven falsehoods. Additionally, making a false claim of citizenship or unlawfully voting in an election is punishable by removal from the United States and a permanent bar to admission," the White House wrote in a statement.

The White House claimed that there are already secure measures in place to protect elections. However, in several states, it is not required to have official identification to register to vote. In addition, recent reports have shown that in some places, noncitizens are able to obtain voter registration forms if they apply for benefits or drivers' licenses at some DMV offices depending on the state.
