"The only reason Biden will not fire or court-martial Milley is because he doesn't want him spilling the dirty secrets on Biden's deadly disaster in Afghanistan," Trump said.

Former President Donald J. Trump released a statement on Wednesday condemning Joint Chief's Chairman General Mark Milley as a "nut job" after reports surfaced on Tuesday which alleged that during the last few months of the Trump administration, Milley contacted China's top military commander to reassure him that if the US were to attack China, he would warn them in advance.

"Milley never told me about calls being made to China," Trump said. "From what I understand, he didn't tell too many other people either."

"He put our Country in a very dangerous position but President Xi knows better, and would've called me. The way Milley and the Biden administration handled the Afghanistan withdrawal, perhaps the most embarrassing moment in our Country's history, would not exactly instill fear in China," Trump said.

"The only reason Biden will not fire or court-martial Milley is because he doesn't want him spilling the dirty secrets on Biden's deadly disaster in Afghanistan."

"Milley is a complete nutjob!" Trump concluded.

The Tuesday report included an excerpt of a phone call between General Milley and China's top military commander, Li Zuocheng, from the new book Peril out from Bob Woodward and the Washington Post's Robert Costa.

"General Li, I want to assure you that the American government is stable and everything is going to be okay. We are not going to attack or conduct any kinetic operations against you," General Milley said to Zuocheng.

"General Li, you and I have known each other for now five years. If we're going to attack, I'm going to call you ahead of time. It's not going to be a surprise," Milley added, leaning on his longstanding relationship with Li.

The White House has since defended Joint Chief's Chairman General Mark Milley's phone call to China and said the President has "complete confidence" in Milley's "leadership, patriotism, and his fidelity to our Constitution."
