DeSantis announced his entry into the GOP primary on Wednesday via a Twitter space.

In another survey, a Yahoo News/YouGov had Trump getting 57 percent support of those polled and DeSantis getting 31 percent, while a Harvard/Harris poll showed 50 percent of voters noting Trump would likely beat Desantis if the GOP primary happened today.

Trump has surged ahead of other potential GOP candidates, according to other recent polls from Harvard-Harris and Morning Consult.

According to the Echelon Insights poll, Trump holds a sizeable lead over other GOP candidates with former Vice President Mike Pence getting 19 percent support, Vivek Ramaswamy with 8 percent, Tim Scott with 2 percent, and both Chris Christie and Larry Elder getting 1 percent.

In the same poll, 73 percent of those polled said the country is on the wrong track. 58 percent said they "strongly/ somewhat disapprove" of Joe Biden's job as president.

The poll asked respondents, "If the 2024 presidential election were being held today, [who] would you vote for…," with 46 percent putting Joe Biden at "definitely/ probably" and 44 percent doing the same for Trump.

The poll was conducted May 22-35, with an estimated 3.9 percentage point margin of error across 1,035 likely voters.
