In an interview with Fox News Channel host Tucker Carlson former President Donald Trump said that he would “never drop out” of the race, he added, “it's not my thing, I would never do it.”

The answer came in response to Carlson asking “is there anything legally that they could throw at you legally that would convince you to drop out of the race? If you get convicted in this case in New York?”

This was the first interview Trump has given since a Manhattan grand jury voted to indict the former president on March 30th. The charges are in connection with alleged payouts of $130,000 to porn star Stormy Daniels from Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen.

Since the indictment, Trump's poll numbers have soared against his likely 2024 GOP primary opponents. 57 percent of those polled favored him in a head-to-head contest with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. In the interview, Trump said that when he was arraigned at the courthouse “people were crying. People that worked there."

During the hour-long interview, Trump was asked a number of questions ranging from his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin to whether he sees Joe Biden running for re-election. He responded by saying “I don’t see how that's possible.” adding that “there is something wrong.”

Trump continued “I saw his answer today, on television, whether or not he was going to run… you can’t get a softer question than that. That was a long answer, about the eggs and the this and that.” concluding with “I don’t think he can.”

He also noted that it isn't about the President's age, he has many friends that are “88, 89, 92.” Noting that he had a meeting with Bernie Marcus, co-founder of Home Depot, and he is still 100 percent mentally.
