"Perhaps they could serve them in the prisons of El Salvador, which have become so recently famous for such lovely conditions!"
President Donald Trump has warned those carrying out domestic terror attacks against Tesla dealerships, vehicles, and charger stations across the country may face up to 20 years in prison for their acts.
"People that get caught sabotaging Teslas will stand a very good chance of going to jail for up to twenty years, and that includes the funders," Trump wrote. "WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU!!!"
He added in a later post, "I look forward to watching the sick terrorist thugs get 20 year jail sentences for what they are doing to Elon Musk and Tesla. Perhaps they could serve them in the prisons of El Salvador, which have become so recently famous for such lovely conditions!"
This comes as federal charges have been handed down to some suspects accused of carrying out attacks against Tesla dealerships, vehicles, and charging stations.
Attorney General Pam Bondi has said that the attacks amount to "domestic terrorism," and pledged “severe consequences” for those involved. "The swarm of violent attacks on Tesla property is nothing short of domestic terrorism. The Department of Justice has already charged several perpetrators with that in mind, including in cases that involve charges with five-year mandatory minimum sentences. We will continue investigations that impose severe consequences on those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate and fund these crimes."
The FBI's Deputy Director Dan Bongino said that the agency is "actively working on the Tesla incidents" to "keep the Homeland safe."
Attacks on Tesla-related buildings and products have occurred across the country, including in Oregon, Illinois, Nevada, Washington, and South Carolina. A website doxxing the personal details of Tesla owners nationwide has appeared on the internet, featuring a Molotov cocktail as the website's cursor. The attacks come as Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency, under the Trump administration, have moved to cut waste and root out fraud in the federal government.
