Twitch has recently endorsed controversial trans streamer “FerociouslySteph,” who not only identifies as a trans girl, but as a deer. Sometimes referred to as trans-species or otherkin, individuals like Steph strongly see themselves as non-human or part animal. She has been named as part of Twitch’s Safety Advisory Council.
The backlash began when Steph made it clear her intention to abuse her power, essentially frothing at the mouth at the prospect of “going after” people on the platform and claiming that “a lot of gamers are white supremacists.”
"I'm not going anywhere, I have power, they can't take that away from me. And honestly, there are some people that should be afraid of me..."

Many people, especially those who make a living making content on the platform, are concerned about abuse of power and the possibility of FerociouslySteph attacking people based on personal vendettas or political bias. Twitch users have taken to Twitter to react, and it hasn’t been pretty.
Twitch gave a trans girl who also identifies as a deer (yes, really) a position of power, & chances the platform'll be cracking down on speech. More so as deer-girl has ties to the ADL

Welcome to the era of the censorious otherkin!
My OP-ED for @RT_com https://t.co/e9sPrJaftA
This has heavily distracted from what good could have come from this council. If I was her I’d resign and allow another trans person with less drama join the council. This shouldn’t be about council members but the greater good. Remaining on will forever taint the council.
