Two people arrested on Wednesday night, in connection with the storming of the Capitol building yesterday, are facing federal charges for their crimes.
According to the Chicago Sun Times, federal complaints against Christopher Michael Alberts and Mark Jefferson Leffingwell have been unsealed.
According to the document, "...certain individuals in the crowd forced their way through, up, and over the barricades and officers of the U.S. Capitol Police, and the crowd advanced to the exterior facade of the building. … Individuals in the crowd forced entry into the U.S. Capitol, including by breaking windows."
“Vice President Pence remained in the United States Capitol from the time he was evacuated from the Senate Chamber until the session resumed."
The federal document goes on to mention how Alberts, when he was apprehended at 7:25pm, was armed with a Taurus 9mm pistol with a full 12-round clip loaded, plus another one to spare, and a round in the chamber of the gun. Alberts was also dressed in body armor. Leffingwell was arrested after attempting to physically overrun police officers inside the Capitol, and then repeatedly striking one of them "with a closed fist".
Many more people are expected to be formally charged as well in coming days for crimes committed on Wednesday during the disturbances, which eventually left four people dead and a whole world in shock.
