Tyler Shough, who was born September 28, 1999, will likely be the last official NFL draft pick who was born in the 1900s.

Shough was drafted by the New Orleans Saints during the second round of the 2025 NFL draft. Shough was also one of the oldest of the bunch of players picked up in the draft. At 25 years old, he has a few years on many of the other picks who are around 21 or 22, Yahoo Sports reported. Nearly all other prospects were born after January 1, 2000.

Shough spent seven seasons in college. He began at Oregon before he transferred to Texas Tech, where he played three seasons. Then he finished off his college football career at Louisville. During his time, he had multiple injuries, but also picked up four college degrees.

According to his bio on the Saints website, "The quarterback graduated from Oregon in only three years with two degrees in criminal justice and political science and earned his master's degree in interdisciplinary studies from Texas Tech in December 2022. Shough married his wife Jordan in April 2024."

He was in the same recruiting class as Trevore Lawrence, but Lawrence just wrapped up his fourth season in the NFL. Despite his older age and injuries, Shough has solid accuracy, has maintained his athleticism, and will have a lot to offer up for Saints fans.

Shough is also older than at least 12 other quarterbacks that will be playing int the 2025 season, including Cam Ward, Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, Michael Penix Jr., JJ McCarthy, Bo Nix, Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson, Brock Purdy, and Trevor Lawrence, Fox Sports reported.

With Shough's draft, the NFL will likely not see another draft pick born before 2000.
