"You can't talk broad themes. You have to boil it down to nuts and bolts, and you have to be pithy. What do I mean by pithy? How about this: Republicans want to kill your kids. It's actually true."
Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin has claimed that "it's actually true" that "Republicans want to kill your kids," claiming that Democrats need to hold Republicans "accountable" and make it "clear to ordinary whoters who voted for what and who's responsible for that."
On Tuesday's episode of "Jen Rubin's Green Room" podcast, the columnist treated viewers to a 12-minute rant about the supposed evils of President-elect Donald Trump and all Republicans. She was especially put out by Trump’s choice of cabinet nominees and insisted that the Senate Republicans who approve those nominees have to be made to pay a “political price.”
"The people who irresponsibly put dangerous, treasonous, unfit people in positions of authority are responsible not only for those people, but for all the horrors that will unfold," she said. "And Democrats better get started now tracking these people, holding these people accountable and making clear to ordinary voters who voted for what and who’s responsible for what."
Rubin laid out her plan for tracking not only Republicans in the Senate or the Trump administration but all GOP voters. "You can't talk broad themes. You have to boil it down to nuts and bolts, and you have to be pithy. What do I mean by pithy? How about this: Republicans want to kill your kids. It's actually true."
"If you're gonna oppose vaccinations, if you're gonna stop breakthrough medical research, if you're gonna allow minors and all sorts of people to get semi-automatic weapons, which they use to shoot up schools, well, then you are responsible for kids' health and death, unfortunately. It has to be that simple and that direct, and it has to be over, and over, and over again," Rubin continued.
Rubin used to be a conservative columnist who became a NeverTrumper and has been writing for the Democrats ever since. She was furious over MSNBC’s Morning Joe co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski making the trip to visit Trump at Mar-a-Lago and urged everyone who was as angry as she was to boycott the show.
"The market works great. You can stop watching Morning Joe anytime," Rubin wrote Monday. "On MJ: If you don't appreciate the audience you have, betray that audience and lose their trust you are [going] to lose lots of them. I have seen this movie,” she continued.
Rubin isn’t happy with her boss, WaPo owner Jeff Bezos, for refusing to endorse Kamala Harris. "First of all, I do not believe the reason stated. I don't believe they have suddenly decided— he has suddenly decided that we should endorse everybody except presidential candidates, and that of all the elections, this is the one to start with this new policy," Rubin said on her podcast in October, according to Fox News. "We endorsed a presidential candidate in 2020 no problem. And I perceive this, and even if it's not intended, it is inevitably perceived as bending the knee to Donald Trump at the worst possible moment when democracy is on the line." Bezos reportedly has a desire to hire more conservative columnists at the WaPo.
