One sophomore USC student, Gabriel, said of the protestors, "Most of them don't go to this school, they wear masks and all that because they're clearly not students."
Another Gaza Camp has formed at the University of Southern California’s campus as these encampments protesting Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists have spread on college campuses across the nation.
Law enforcement was seen breaking up the group, removing tents that had been set up. According to KCAL, the encampment was set up at USC’s Alumni Park on Wednesday morning and quickly grew in size.
Authorities at one point detained a protestor. The group of activists was seen circling the police vehicle where the detained protestor was, preventing the vehicle from leaving. The protestor was eventually released.
Among the list of demands from the group was that the university divest from organizations that "profit from Israeli apartheid, genocide and occupation in Palestine."
Despite authorities' attempts to clear the park, the group retook the area. "USC students have retaken Alumni Park with no plans to leave anytime soon," the left-wing People's City Council LA wrote.
One sophomore USC student, Gabriel, told Fox 11 of the protestors, "Most of them don't go to this school, they wear masks and all that because they're clearly not students."
USC’s Department of Public Safety announced that anyone coming to campus should be prepared to show identification.
"There is still significant activity at the center of the UPC campus due to a demonstration. The gates are closed, so anyone coming to campus should be prepared to show an ID at the gates for class or for business," they wrote.
The encampment is one of many set up around the country in recent days. Columbia University, NYU, Harvard, and other colleges and universities have seen Gaza Camps pop up.
