Vice President JD Vance slammed European government officials during a sit-down interview with Sean Hannity on Monday, where he said that if government officials are not willing to defend those that disagree with them, they are not fit to lead western countries and touched on the threat of mass migration

Vance told the Fox News host, "We have to ask ourselves, the questions as leaders, are we willing to defend people, even if we disagree with what they say? If you're not willing to do that, I don't think you're fit to lead Europe or the United States."

Hannity summed up, saying, "If you're running in fear of your own voters, there is nothing America can do for you."

Vance added, "There's nothing that we can do for you if you're terrified of your own people and Sean, you see this every single day. What are some of the biggest drivers of violence in these European societies? It's mass migration. It's people who haven't assimilated into European societies, who are driving cars into Christmas festivals, killing tons of innocent people."

The comments come after Vance gave a speech at the Munich Security Conference with similar themes, focusing on the threat of censorship as well as mass migration in the West. He said that European leaders will often shut down their own citizens when those in the European Union take issue with mass migration.

"That is a danger in Europe. It was a danger under Joe Biden in the United States of America," Vance told Hannity, adding that even though China is an external threat to the United States as well as Europe, that in order to take on those foreign threats, the free speech issue as well as mass migration are the "biggest risk[s] to our civilization."

"It's that weakness internally. That's what we have to fix," Vance added. During the conference in Munich, Germany earlier this year, Vance laid into European leaders for enforcing laws cracking down on free expression, including the detainment of a man who was praying outside an abortion clinic in the UK.
