James William Nugent II, 27, of Alexandria, Virginia, has been charged with 13 counts of child pornography.
James William Nugent II, of Alexandria, Virginia, was criminally charged on Wednesday on 13 counts of child pornography and taking indecent liberties with a child, according to Fox 5. Nugent was employed as a school resource teacher at Groveton Elementary School in Alexandria.
Police said that officers were dispatched to an intersection in Stratford Landing around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday after a juvenile had reported that a man had lured them into his van and exposed himself.
Authorities said the child was not injured and was able to escape to place a phone call to police.
Detectives arrived on the scene to investigate the incident and were able to determine a license plate number with the help of footage obtained from a neighbor's surveillance camera. License plate readers determined that the van belonged to Nugent.
On Wednesday morning, Nugent was arrested and taken into custody. Authorities ordered a search warrant and officers allegedly found child sex abuse materials in Nugent's home.
Police said they are investigating additional cases and believe Nugent exposed himself to four additional children within the past two weeks near Stratford Elementary School. Detectives said the victim in this case does not attend the school Nugent has been employed at, the outlet reports.
Authorities are asking for more information on Nugent and additional people to come forward if they believe they have been a victim of a crime. Detectives can be reached at 703-246-7800, option 3.
