The victims who were killed or injured in a stabbing that took place on Sunday afternoon on a highway outside of Washington, DC have been identified by authorities.

The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Jared Llamado of McLean, Virginia. The woman killed in the attack that took place on I-495 southbound near Exit 52 has been identified as 39-year-old Michelle Adams. Her dog was also killed, per Inside NOVA.

The three people injured have been identified as 36-year-old Dana Bonnell, 37-year-old Mary Flood, and 40-year-old Heather Miller. The three women were hospitalized with serious injuries.

Police responded to the area at 1:17 pm for a reported road rage incident. State police spokesman Matthew Demlein said, "When the trooper arrived, he was confronted by Llamado carrying a knife." A trooper shot the suspect in self-defense, and Llamado was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. Demlein said the incident is not believed to be related to terrorism.

One alleged eyewitness of the incident said that the suspect "drove up from behind and smashed car in left lane, approx 70mph, car crosses 4 lanes to pull over on shoulder, guy continues following him and smashing into him. We drove past at this point but presumably next steps were them getting out and guy initiating the stabbing. It was truly insane and terrifying even when we didn’t yet know about the stabbing."
