Parker is the third public school teacher and second assistant principal in the Western Washington area to have been revealed to have allegations of inappropriate behavior with a minor in recent days.
An assistant principal in Washington state has been placed on administrative leave following allegations of raping a child. Julian Antonio Parker, the assistant principal at Centennial Middle School in the Snohomish School District, was arrested by Lake Stevens Police on Nov. 6 for investigation of first-degree rape of a child.
According to court documents, the allegations were not related to his work at the school. The following day, Everett District Court Judge Tam Bui found probable cause for the allegation, set bail at $50,000, and ordered the 37-year-old not to have any contact with minors.
He posted bail and was released from the Snohomish County Jail that same evening. However, according to the Snohomish School District, Parker has been on leave since Sept 4. In a statement to the Everett Herald, school district spokesperson Kristin Foley said Parker was placed on administrative leave “since learning of non-school related allegations.”
According to his LinkedIn profile, Parker taught math at McClure Middle School in Seattle, then, in 2017, was the dean of students at Explorer Middle School in the Mukilteo School District. He joined Centennial Middle School in July 2021.
Parker’s attorney Eric Lewis told the outlet, “The charge has been dismissed, the case has been closed. That’s really all we have.” However, on Wednesday, Snohomish County Prosecutor Jason Cummings said police have referred the case to the prosecutor’s office for review, calling it an “active, open file.” He continued, “It will take some time to work through the allegations that are in there to make that charging determination,” adding the case is “not closed in our office.”
