Jean-Pierre was asked by a reporter about President Biden's upcoming trip to Mexico for the North American Leaders' Summit (NALS) and whether he has any particular action that he wants from Mexican President López Obrador to help with the United States border crisis.
"Irregular migration is certainly one of the key issues facing our hemisphere and it will certainly be one of the important topics of discussion at the NALS," she replied, stumbling a little as she said "irregular migration."
She used the same phrase as she further explained how the President is looking forward to discussions with Mexico and Canada, to "continue coordinating a regional response, which you've seen over the past several months, to irregular migration in the region."
After referencing her government's "continued implementation of the principles outlined in the Los Angeles Declaration on Migration and Protection," she once again referred to illegal immigration as "irregular immigration."
"So we have been working with the two countries for this past year or so on dealing with irregular migration," she said. "That is going to continue, certainly not going to get ahead of that."
This was not the only odd behavior to come from the Press Secretary during this press conference. Earlier on, she made an awkward comment to Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy, telling him, "I thought you were gonna ask for my OK to name your daughter Karine."
