WATCH: CNN fears freedom convoy 'inspiring others across the globe'

Both parties were concerned about the movement "spreading" to other countries, and wondered why nobody has put a stop to this sooner.

On Thursday morning, CNN correspondent Rosemary Church and Associate Professor Stephanie Carvin were talking about the Freedom Convoy and worried about the movement taking on an international character.

Both parties were concerned about the movement "spreading" to other countries, and wondered why nobody has put a stop to this sooner:

Carvin starts:

"So, we think Canadians generally, and maybe the international community as well, is looking at this, and we are just scratching our heads and wondering why we haven't had a, a more fast solution," she states, implying that perhaps the Canadian military should have been called in.

"Because, in failing to act, quite frankly, I think this movement has spread within Canada, and also now might be spreading internationally."

The host responds with, "Yeah, we want to talk about that, because, the longer they stay, the more they do inspire others around the globe," implying that people supporting freedom is an undesirable development, in her opinion.

"We know that there've been similar demonstrations in New Zealand, and across Europe, tapping into the anti-vaccine sentiment, pandemic fatigue, and also inciting this civil disobedience." Many of these countries have had incredibly strict pandemic laws since the start of the pandemic, often violating their own countries' core documents to do so.

"And now the US Department of Homeland Security says trucker convoys like these could soon disrupt the Super Bowl in the United States, and, of course, the State of the Union and other big events."

The host then asks the crucial questions: "How bad do you think this could get, and how do you stop this?"

Instead of even so much as mentioning the possibility of simply lifting the now widely considered obsolete COVID regulations, the interviewee responded:

"Well, honestly, I never expected it to get really to this point. I mean, I was well aware of who was organizing this event."

"But if you had told me  this would spark off a worldwide rebellion of angry people with industrial machinery, I would not have believed that three weeks ago."
