A woman who claimed to be a teacher was caught on video hurling racist slurs at a Hispanic Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy during a routine traffic stop.

According to an exclusive story by Fox News' Bill Melugin, the driver was pulled over for using her cell phone while driving. The 14-year veteran told Melugin that he recorded the incident on his official department-issued body-cam as well as a personal one he bought to "protect himself from false allegations."

As the officer in the video approaches the vehicle, the driver while holding her cell phone said, "I started to record because you’re a murderer."

The officer maintains his calm throughout the engagement and told the woman that she cannot be using her cell phone while driving. After asking for her license the woman angrily responds "It's at my apartment, and I am perfectly legal and I am a teacher."

The driver continues to berate the officer throughout the video and even accuses the officer of being jealous of her car. Towards the end of the footage the driver begins calling the officer a "Mexican racist."

The driver added, "You are always going to be a Mexican. You will never be white. You know that, right?"

LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva told Fox News, "She claims to be a teacher. I'm not so sure where she is teaching... but if she represents her profession, is that an indictment on her profession and the caliber of people?"

Villanueva continued, "You have one incident like George Floyd....but some people want to label the entire profession as if everyone was a Derek Chauvin. It shows you that bigotry, racism comes in all, colors and all ages -- that's proof of that right there. If you want to call all of the deputies murderers, unfortunately, you are doing the exact same thing you're accusing other people of doing against your own kind."

According to Fox News, the woman in the video contacted internal affairs and filed a harassment complaint against the deputy immediately following the interaction. The LA County Sheriff told Fox News that the woman has a track record of making false claims against deputies.
