Nonbinary actor Ezra Miller, of Fantastic Beasts fame and who plays Barry Allen in the DC Extended Universe franchise, was seen choking a woman out, assaulting her in a viral video that has enraged and disappointed fans, according to Variety.
Miller came out as nonbinary in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2018, claiming "I don’t identify. Like, fuck that. Queer just means no, I don’t do that. I don’t identify as a man, I don’t identify as a woman. I barely identify as a human." Miller's preferred pronouns are they/them.
The altercation happened on April 1, outside a pub in Reykjavik, Iceland. The woman was a fan and when she approached Miller along with fellow fans, Miller freaked out and challenged her to a fight. This is a bar, Prikið Kaffihús, is one where Miller is a regular when they is in town.
According to a source who was at the bar and witnessed the confrontation, the fans, including the woman, were being "quite pushy." Fans online didn't appear to think that warranted his treatment of her.
Miller can be heard to say “Oh, you wanna fight? That’s what you wanna do?” The woman appears to think this is a joke, and jokingly takes up a fighting stance.
Miller quickly approaches and wraps their hands around the girls throat, knocking her to the ground. The person behind the camera sounds concerned, saying “Woah, bro. Bro.”
The shooting stops, and the footage comes to an abrupt end. There is no indication as yet as to whether Miller feels misgendered by being called "bro."
