WATCH: Ikea releases new 'Pride' line of couches

Ikea has come out with a new line of couches for Pride month. The couches are meant for two and each one is inspired by a different flag from the LGBTQ+ spectrum.

Of the Love Seats, of which there are 10, Ikea writes "There's more to Pride than a rainbow. That's why we created Love Seats - a collection of IKEA loveseats inspired by the Pride flags of different 2SLGBTQ+ identities."

The couches were "designed and created by artists active in the 2SLGBTQ+ community, the loveseats are a platform to celebrate identity and share stories of love."

The flags are represented by the couches. The video opens saying "There are many different Pride flags," and goes on to match each couch to a flag. "Each flag represents a different identity," it says. "We created Ikea loveseats inspired by them."

A simple grey couch wrapped in yellow, white, purple and black belts, as though it's been wrapped up as part of a bondage fetish, is "inspired by the nonbinary flag."

A fluffy pink and blue couch adorned with clouds that looks like it would be right at home in a child's bedroom is "inspired by the transgender flag." But there's another transgender flag inspired couch, too, which is white with blue and pink designs on it. Some of these designs are of people in bunny ears and animal costumes.

A couch with flowers shooting out of it in rainbow colors is for the "progress flag." An "asexual flag" is covered with swirling, tulle ruffles in purple, white and black.

A couch covered in hand prints, as well as pink prosthetic arms and hands, is for the "bisexual flag." It has writing on the cushions that reads: "When you change or to and nobody believes you."

The "2spirit flag" couch also has a hand motif, with fingers clutching a rainbow cushion, while the other cushion has black feathers.

The "pansexual flag" inspired a couch that has the design of blobby shapes in pink, yellow, and grey, while a traditional looking overstuffed couch with a beach color pattern in pink, orange and yellow represents the "lesbian flag."

A swirly almost tie-dyed pink, purple, and white couch, adorned with scribbles that could be stolen from Jean Dubuffet, is after the "genderfluid flag."

The marketing video features testimonials from LGBTQ+ people who say that finding their communities has made them feel loved. Sitting on the couches that match their gender identity, trans and non-binary folx of all stripes spoke about how great it was to have couches that match their sexuality.

Maybe housewares really can make a person feel seen and heard after all.
