Heated debate on whether the Trudeau Liberals' quarantine facility should be shut down following the alleged sexual assault of a young mother in the Trudeau International Airport quarantine facility broke out in Parliament on Thursday, as Conservative MPs demanded answers for the travesty.

Among those demanding questions was Conservative Shadow Minister for Health Michelle Rempel Garner, who asked her member opposite, Health Minister Patty Hajdu, if Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland's comment that the young woman "shouldn't [have] travel[led]" implied that she deserved what allegedly happened to her.

"Every woman deserves to live a life free of violence and a life of dignity," said Hajdu, "but I will repeat these border measures are in place to protect Canadians. And they will remain in place until such time that science and evidence indicate that it is safe to release them. The member opposite knows that this matter is under investigation."

Yesterday, in a written statement, Rempel Garner and other Conservative MPs demanded that the Liberals "suspend the hotel quarantine requirement until they have put measures in place to ensure the safety of Canadians and institute a system for verifying at-home quarantine that doesn’t involve security agents who have not been properly vetted."
