WATCH: Man attacks Jewish family with knife in New York City

A Jewish family walking in New York City was attacked on the streets by an assailant carrying a knife, the New York Post reports.

The disturbing footage shows a Hasidic couple walking with their one-year-old daughter before being attacked by an assailant. The attack took place over the Jewish holiday of Passover.

In the video, the assailant can be seen walking past the couple before turning around to attack. The family managed to escape the assailant without serious injury, but all three family members were struck by the knife.

The daughter was struck by the knife in the chin. The father received a slash to the head while the mother was cut on the lip. All three received treatment for minor cuts but did not require significant medical attention.

Darryl Jones, 30, was arrested and has been charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon, three counts of assault one count of assault on a person under the age of seven, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The suspect had been in prison for attempted murder and robbery before he was released in February. He is on parole until 2026.

According to the victims, Jones was ranting during the attack, but did not say anything antisemitic. NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident, although Jones has not been charged with a hate crime.
