Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki commented on the CDC's new guidance that Americans can dispense with the wearing of masks outside if they are fully vaccinated.
"The incentive is to get vaccinated, so that you can enjoy the benefits of being vaccinated," Psaki said.

"We're at the stage now where we have enough supply that we want to convey what the benefits are, and these are some of the benefits," she said.
A reporter asked what this means as regards President Biden's announcement that if everyone gets vaccinated, we could all get together for the Fourth of July. "Didn't we sort of erase that deadline in some ways and say 'right now, for those vaccinated, that day is here?'"
"I think it's clear, as it has been clear for some time, and also the guidelines from the CDC several weeks was also if your neighbors are vaccinated you can be inside and have dinner with them.
"What he's trying to convey to the public is when the vaccine is available, when he made that announcement, when the vaccine is broadly available, as it now is to the public as of April 19, encourage your friends to get vaccinated, encourage your neighbors to get vaccinated, we know that that's one of the most impactful ways to get people to their pharmacies, to their doctors office to do that so that we can have a barbecue on July 4th.
"So yes, there are some communities, some neighbors who are fully vaccinated, they can all gather, if there's a April 30th barbecue," she said.
The reporter clarified "July 4th is here for some and not for all, that's the point."
"The incentive is to get vaccinated, so that you can enjoy the benefits of being vaccinated," Psaki said.
