On Tuesday night, an "all-ages" event called "Drag Queen Christmas" in San Antonio, Texas was met with armed protestors and counter-protestors.

The event is part of a touring drag show hitting dozens of cities across the country, featuring a number of scantily clad performers, according to Newsweek.

Journalist Ford Fischer, who was reporting on the protests and interviewing people on either side, described how he saw both groups visibly armed.

The group protesting the event, led by members of the organization This Is Texas Freedom Force (TITFF), made it clear that their only point of contention was that the show allowed children.

"Underage kids have no business being allowed inside 'drag queen events,'" the protest flyer stated. "We don't allow kids inside strip joints, comedy clubs or rated R movies, so why are we allowing Texas kids to be subjected to adult content and groomed at these drag queen events?"

Footage from the night shows the group of protesters across the street from the Aztec Theater, where the event was being held, while a group of counter-protesters, a number of whom were in black bloc and armed, gathered in front of the theater. Some counter-protestors included members of the John Brown Gun Club.

The protest drew a strong police presence, keeping the two sides separate from each other to avoid a physical confrontation.

After around four hours of protesting, the counter-protestors yelled "f*ck you" at the leaving protestors and chanted, "We're here, we're queer! We shut their sh*t down!"

As similar protests have started to appear in increasing numbers, some states, including Texas, have introduced legislation aimed at defining drag shows as a "sexually oriented business," thereby disallowing minors from attending.
