Video from Wednesdays's Parliament meeting of Minister of Public Safety Bill Blair confusing a grenade launcher and a historic cannon placed in Stanley Park in Vancouver has some wondering why the Liberals are in charge of banning guns, when they don't know the difference between the two.
Today @BillBlair equated the daily tradition of firing a historic 12lb cannon, made in 1816, in Stanley Park with mass shootings. The Minister can’t differentiate a historic piece from a grenade launcher ?? what an embarrassment. Thx @blainecalkinsmp pic.twitter.com/VdIibZ9Vj0

The sweeping gun ban includes historic pieces and antiques, with Blair saying that the guns were too widely available with guns being used to "harm Canadians."
The gun ban has received widespread backlash from Canadians.
An online petition against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Order in Council decision which banned over 1,500 firearms has become the most signed official petition in Canadian history.
Petition e-2574 became open for signature on May 5, 2020 and has already received more than 180,000 signatures. The petition closes on September 2, 2020.
The petition asks the government to "scrap" the Order in Council that took place on May, 1 2020. It also suggests that the government instead pass legislation that targets criminals and stops firearms from being smuggled into the country.
