Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott spoke to press on Wednesday, to lay out the plan for Ontario to move forward in the face of decreasing COVID rates. Notably, the province's plan did not mention any changes on vaccine passports or masks, something that provinces like Saskatchewan and Alberta are ditching completely.

Toronto Sun columnist Brian Lilley asked why there was no mention of dropping those regulations past March 14.

Elliott said that it would be "something that we'll continue to monitor on a daily basis," and that will be based on hospitalization statistics and waste water surveillance information.

"We're willing to change if necessary based on evidence and what we say, and recommendations that we see and hear from Dr. [Kieran] Moore and his colleagues," she continued.

Lilley pressed Elliott for more information, after she dodged the question. Lilley asked if the passports would be something that Ontarians have to live with forever.

Elliott said that "the trends are going in a good direction," but that things could not always continue that way.

"We need to be very careful, we're not telling the people of Ontario that this will be in place forever, no," she continued, saying that the province was still not in the clear.
