The White House has announced that it will be looking into the case of a child killer who was freed from prison after less than a decade in prison. Ronald Exantus, 42, stabbed an entire family in 2015, killing a 6-year-old boy. Today, he is walking free after being released 13 years early.

"I can confirm the White House is looking into this. It’s wholly unacceptable for a child killer to walk free after just several years in prison," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on X in response to a video about the case.

Logan Tipton, 6, was repeatedly slashed in the head by Exantus on the night of December 7, 2015, after the intruder broke into their home. When Dean Tipton confronted the killer, he was stabbed and then tossed 10-15 feet by Exantus. The daughter in the family, Dakota, described the crimes.

"He stabbed me in the back. And then stomped on my head," she said. “And I remember waking up across the room, not where I was at, and I looked and he was killing Logan and Logan was screaming.” Exantus was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2018 on only assault charges as the jury found him not guilty of murder, citing insanity. On October 1, he was released on parole because of good behavior and educational credit.

Upon his release, Dean Tipton has issued a warning, saying that he will end the life of his son's killer if he ever crosses paths with Exantus. “I’ve had my talks with God cause I’m not afraid to tell you all, I told the court — if I ever cross paths with him, I will kill the man. I will kill him where he stands," Tipton told reporters.

Logan's mother also expressed disbelief that the man who killed her son while he slept will be getting out of jail less than a decade later. “It’s infuriating that a six-year-old was killed sleeping in his bed and someone literally only did ten years in prison, and he didn’t even do the time for that, he did time for assault charges,” Heather Tipton said to Fox56.

The move from the Trump administration comes as the president has been looking to crack down on crime as well as soft-on-crime policies throughout the country.
