On Friday, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers (D) called for the prosecution of the 10 people who participated in an alleged alternative elector plan to overturn the 2020 presidential election for former President Donald Trump.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Evers said at a bill signing ceremony, "There has to be accountability." He added, "What they did was wrong, and so I’m hoping somebody will pick up the banner here because this has to happen.”

On X, he added, "What those ten fake electors did was wrong. People have to be held accountable for that, and I hope to hell somebody does."

On December 14, 2020, the 10 people allegedly gathered at the Wisconsin state capital and cast false electoral votes for former President Trump, ignoring the results of the election that had President Joe Biden winning the state, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal reports.

Those named in the alleged plan are the chairman of the Republican 4th Congressional District Robert Spindell, former chairman of the state Republican Party Andrew Hitt, chairwoman of the Republican 8th Congressional District Kelly Ruh, former vice chairwoman of the 1st Congressional District GOP Carol Brunner, former chairman of the Dane County Republican Party Scott Grabins, former chairman of the 6th Congressional District GOP Darryl Carlson, former vice chairwoman of the 7th Congressional District GOP Pam Travis, former national committeewoman for the state Republican Party Mary Buestrin, chairman of the 3rd Congressional District GOP, Bill Feehan, and second vice chairwoman of the state Republican Party Kathy Kiernan.

Last month, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced charges on 16 individuals for conspiracy over an alleged alternate election plan in 2020. The individuals face eight felony charges each including election law forgery, conspiracy, and uttering and publishing.

Nessel said in a statement, "As part of this orchestrated plan, we allege that 16 Michigan residents met covertly in the basement of Michigan GOP Headquarters and knowingly and of their own volition signed their names to multiple certificates stating that they were: 'the duly elected and qualified electors for President and Vice President of the United States of America for the State of Michigan." She added, "It was a lie."

She said they "attempted to enter the state capitol and deliver their fabricated electoral votes to the Senate floor but were turned away."

Earlier this week, former President Trump was arraigned on his own charges relating to allegedly attempting to overturn the 2020 election. He is charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction, and conspiracy against the right to vote and to have one’s vote counted.
