Casap's phone contained information on the "Order of Nine Angles," which the FBI has said is a "satanic cult that encourages violence, terrorism, sexual abuse, and child pornography."
Nikita Casap, 18, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree intentional homicide on Thursday as he said in Waukesha County Circuit Court. He killed his stepfather, Donald Mayer, as well as his mother, Tatiana Casap. Casap was 17 at the time of the killings.
When he was asked if he understood the punishment that would go along with the plea, he said, “Yes, your honor” from the bench, per the New York Post. Other charges against Casap were dropped, including hiding a corpse as well as theft. Authorities said that Casap had shot his mother and stepfather in their home around Feb 11 and then lived with their rotting corpses for weeks on end.
Casap then took his stepfather’s SUV across the country after getting some $14,000 in cash, jewelry, passports, a gun, and the family’s dog, court documents stated. He was later arrested on February 28 in Kansas.
In a subsequent search, authorities found that Casap had a manifesto calling for the assassination of Trump and was conspiring with others to overthrow the US government. “The killing of his parents appeared to be an effort to obtain the financial means and autonomy necessary to carrying out his plan,” the warrant stated. Detectives later found messages on his phone, where he was asking others about how to get to Ukraine.
“So, while in Ukraine, I’ll be able to live a normal life? Even if it’s found out I did it?” Casap asked an unknown individual he was messaging. Each killing comes with a mandatory life sentence and eligibility for parole after 20 years. Casap is slated to be sentenced on March 5.
Authorities also found materials on Casap's phone related to the "Order of Nine Angles," which the FBI has said is a "satanic cult that encourages violence, terrorism, sexual abuse, and child pornography" and has "strong anti-Judaic, anti-Christian, and anti-Western ideologies" and claims to "incite chaos and violence."
