A recruitment video posted by the CIA last week on Twitter is being met with backlash over its "woke" messaging.
Featured in the two and a half minute video is a 36-year-old "cisgender millennial who's been diagnosed with a generalized anxiety disorder," and "intersectional."
The woman, says she "used to struggle with imposter syndrome," but had now embraced herself "unapologetically."
"I refuse to internalize misguided patriarchal ideas of what a woman can or should be," she said, adding that "I am tired of feeling like I am supposed to apologize for the space I occupy rather than intoxicate people with my effort, my brilliance."
The video closes with the woman quoting the shirt she wears throughout the video, "Mija, you are worth it."
"So here you see how the institution as vital as the CIA has sort of gone berserk. It's part of the larger breakdown of our institutions, and I can only imagine America's enemies watching all of this and truly laughing their heads off," said Dinesh D'Souza.
"Every institution is being destroyed by the woke left," wrote director and producer Robby Starbuck, adding "Our enemies are laughing their asses off watching this. While the CIA virtue signals about hiring "intersectional cisgender millennial with generalized anxiety disorder," our enemies are plotting to take advantage at every turn... It would make a lot of sense if we found out that the CIA was responsible for the spread of woke leftism in America."
"If you're a Chinese communist, or an Iranian Mullah, or Kim Jong UN... would this scare you? We've come a long way from Jason Bourne," wrote Senator Ted Cruz, referencing the movie franchise centered around a former CIA operative.
The video, posted in late March, gained traction on social media after the CIA posted a clip of the video for #WisdomWednesday. The video, which has over 115,ooo views, has recieved just 424 likes in contrast to nearly 5,000 dislikes.
