Woke Kansas City newspaper demands the Chiefs fire Harrison Butker and replace him with a girl

The suggestion comes after Butker received public backlash for his promotion of traditional family values.

An opinion piece published in the Kansas City Star suggests that the Chiefs remove kicker Harrison Butker from the team and sign a female kicker to take his place. The premise was that after promoting traditional family values during a commencement speech at a Catholic college, he had no business playing football.

The article, written by Peter Hamm, argued that integrating female kickers into the NFL is both realistic and beneficial for business. Hamm referenced the University of Manitoba in Canada, which currently has a female kicker on its team. The kicker, Maya Turner, made headlines last season by kicking a game-winning field goal in double overtime and another impressive 48-yard field goal.

Hamm claimed that this is one example proving it is possible for there to be female kickers who can compete at the NFL level. “This is not a joke. It’s not unrealistic. And it would be good for business,” the article stated.

The article focused around the recent controversial comments made by Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, suggesting that the Chiefs need to make a “strategic decision” regarding his future with the team.

“If he could agree to shut his mouth, the current story might fade. There are, after all, plenty of athletes with backward cultural views, but they’re tolerated if they can mostly stick to sports cliches in interviews. If they’re superstars, they sometimes can keep yapping and get away with it,” Hamm commented.

“Harrison Butker is not Patrick Mahomes. He’s a special teams player. That gives him less leverage with the team. They could trade him for a solid kicker, or they could make a statement by signing a woman to kick,” he added.

The article further suggested that NFL teams, including the Chiefs, could recruit female soccer players to serve as kickers, leveraging their professional ball-kicking skills.

“There are more than 300 players on the 14 teams in the National Women’s Soccer League. That’s more than 300 women who are professional ball kickers and don’t currently choose to be stay-at-home housewives. It would be delightful if one of them cost the Kansas City Chiefs kicker his job.”

Butker recently faced backlash for remarks made during his speech at Benedictine College’s graduation ceremony. In his speech, Butker emphasized the importance of men being present in the home and unapologetic about their masculinity, while encouraging women to take pride in motherhood and raising children. These comments were perceived by some left-wing activists as sexist and misogynistic. Butker referenced his own family and thanked his wife for all she does for him and their family.
