A mother of two suddenly disappeared during a cross-country trip with her ex-boyfriend from Alabama to Wyoming.

The 33-year-old Katie Ferguson has not been spotted alive since October, with her family filing an official report about her being missing in Cody, Wyoming, on Nov. 2. Her family thinks she may have disappeared far before that, according to Fox News.

This sudden disappearance brings concerns, as Ferguson was reportedly having problems with then-boyfriend Adam Aviles Jr. The pair was said to have broken up in May, around the same time Ferguson planned to move to Alabama in order to live with her mother. In August, Ferguson asked Aviles to pick up her and her daughters from Alabama, and the group began driving in October.

Aviles is currently being held in jail for an unrelated federal charge of being a felon in possession of ammunition. He has entered a not-guilty plea and is set to have his trial begin on Jan. 24.

Katie Ferguson's sister, Nicole, reacted to the case, telling Court TV: "I never in a million years thought (Aviles) would do something to her, I didn’t. But now I think he did, and I think it was really bad."

"I don’t think she’s alive. I really don’t."

Aviles notably returned to Wyoming with the girls, with no sign of Ferguson. Court documents say he had said to law enforcement that Katie "was not missing, but she just does not want contact with her mother."

Angela Ferguson, the stepmom of Katie, promised to give Katie's children the upbringing that she never had.

"I have Covid, but my chest is extra heavy from the disappearance of my stepdaughter," Angela Ferguson posted to Facebook on Nov. 11. "I just want to humanize Katie. She is just not a report on a missing person list.

"She loves her kids more than anything. They are her everything. She kept her kids clean & well cared for. She has a way of making people laugh. Her siblings can attest to her goofiness."

Court documents say the last sighting of Katie was in Trumann, Arkansas, around Oct. 5, and noted that there "was no projectile hole in the passenger side door."

On Oct 9, Aviles had a "projectile hole" in his passenger side door upon being pulled over by Texas State Patrol, per the indictment. Katie was not in the car.
