During a live episode of the Verdict podcast, a Yale student asked hosts Michael Knowles and Sen. Ted Cruz how far they would go to end world hunger.

The Q&A session at the Monday event took a weird turn when a student asked Knowles and Cruz a rather vulgar hypothetical question.

"Assuming that it would end global hunger," the student asked, "would you fellate another man."

"I actually think it is better that the Yalie answer this," Sen. Cruz responded, passing the responsibility to Knowles, who graduated from Yale in 2012.

"You know, there's a line in American Psycho about 'that Yale thing'," Knowles said. "I think that's what our question here is alluding to."

"Like a typical left-wing undergraduate," Knowles told the student, "you are engaging in consequentialist ethics."

"You are attempting to justify flagrantly immoral behavior to achieve a good end, and I tell you my friend, the ends do not justify the means. Absolutely–absolutely not."

Sen. Cruz turned the question back on the student, asking, "If it would solve world hunger, would you vote for Donald Trump?"

Both Knowles and Sen. Cruz handled the student's question in good humor, and their rebuttals were met with laughter and applause from the audience, as well as co-host Liz Wheeler.

The event was organized by Young America's Foundation, and is part of Knowles and Cruz's country-wide tour.
