Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was interrupted by a pro-Palestine protester during a town hall event in Jackson Heights, Queens, where the activist accused her of failing to act against the “genocide in Gaza.”

“I am a health care worker, and I want to know what you’re doing about the genocide in Gaza,”the woman shouted while Ocasio-Cortez was on stage. The crowd immediately responded with boos, but the protester continued yelling.

“I’m a nurse! Shame on you!” she continued. “Shame on you, you’re a liar. You’re a liar!” She also labeled the congresswoman a “war criminal” and shouted, “Shame on you, I used to support you!”

The woman was eventually escorted out of the venue. After the incident, Ocasio-Cortez addressed the outburst, saying, “I more than welcome people who disagree, or are super pissed off at me for any issue to come, but we have some ground rules here.”

“Please wait for the Q&A because we don’t want to deprive all of our neighbors of the ability to have information and hearing them to respond to it,” she added. “We need to be able to have this conversation.”

The confrontation comes despite a large amount of popular support Ocasio-Cortez has received from the public in recent weeks. She recently toured with Senator Bernie Sanders on what was dubbed the “Fighting Oligarchy” tour. According to Fox News, Ocasio-Cortez has raised over $9.6 million from 266,000 individual donors in the past three months.

Her political future has also been a topic of speculation, with rumors circulating that Ocasio-Cortez could seek higher office, such as the US Senate or even a possible presidential bid in 2028.

"I cannot convey enough how grateful I am to the millions of people supporting us with your time, resources, & energy. Your support has allowed us to rally people together at record scale to organize their communities," Ocasio-Cortez recently said in a social media post.

Thanks to this young nurse for having the bravery to confront AOC about her support for the horrific war crimes committed against primarily women & children in Palestine. Looks like your writer here accidentally accurately used the word genocide, a word TPM writers have deliberately avoided over the past 18 months of horrific war crimes committed by Israeli terrorists against a caged civilian population.
