Zohran Mamdani chased out of Foley Square after defending Tish James

Socialist candidate running for New York City mayor, Zohran Mamdani, was chased out of a New York City park on Friday, with a protester yelling that he was an "antisemite" and calling on him to "denounce Hezbollah" and "denounce Sharia law." Mamdani had been at the park to show support for New York Attorney General Letitia James when the incident occurred.

The protester yelling at Mamdani, who has been identified as Raul Rivera, 55, per the New York Post, followed Mamdani and his team as the politician was being escorted to his vehicle. "Antisemite! Denounce Sharia law! Denounce Hezbollah! You can’t do it!” Rivera yelled. “Walk the narrow or you’re going to jail with Tish!”

Mamdani was in Foley Square for a protest to support James as she is facing federal charges from the Trump administration. Rivera, who was previously arrested after biting a Mamdani campaign volunteer, shouted at Mamdani as he got into the vehicle, clashing with the socialist's security detail.

One member of Mamdani's team shoved Rivera away when the protester walked too closely to the car. Rivera shoved the man back and yelled at the Mamdani team member: "Get the f*ck off me, bro!"

For the event at the park, Mamdani led a group of protesters in chants to support James. He had been surrounded by a group of people holding up signs that said, "Hands off Tish!" and the group repeatedly yelled the phrase with Mamdani.

James has been indicted by a federal jury on charges of bank fraud as well as false claims charges. If convicted on both counts, James faces up to 60 years in prison. The indictment comes after the DOJ began investigating James when Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte alleged that James made false claims to get more favorable home loans.
